Amelia: 11 months

Amelia11monBLOG

  • Height: 28″
  • Weight: 20 lbs
  • Sleeping patterns: Amelia is doing much better sleeping through the night. She goes to bed at 1800 and doesn’t wake until 0400 or 0500 to eat before laying back down until 0700 or even 0800! I’m loving the extra sleep. Nap time is twice a day at 0900 and 1330 for an hour each time.
  • Feeding schedule: I am slowly starting to wean Amelia in preparation for next month when I’ll stop breastfeeding her. I began with only nursing her three times a day and by the end of this month, we are now down to twice a day- morning and at night. She is eating solid food like a champ though. New foods this month have been turkey hotdogs, yogurt raisins, raisin toast, grapes, and helping me eat my sub sandwich. She is quite hilarious to watch when she eats. She uses the back of her arm to help shove any food that may have not made it into her mouth, back in. I feel like she would snack all day if I’d let her! Veggies are still a work in progress. She likes whole carrots, but I usually have to dip green beans in something before she’ll eat them. She has figured out how to use a straw and loves drinking water.
  • Sounds and motions she makes: Amelia went from crawling to walking with her toy walker by herself. She can stand up unassisted for a few seconds, and climb up stairs. It won’t be long before I’ll be chasing after her, I’m sure. She is always smiling and loves to scrunch her nose up and swat her arms when she’s happy.  She is getting better at copying things that I do, one of which is clapping her hands after seeing me do it. She is still very verbal and loves interacting with anyone who smiles at her.
  • Likes and dislikes: If Amelia isn’t eating or playing with someone, she prefers to be held. I can never walk away from her because if she gets left behind, she will protest loudly. My arm muscles are getting very toned! She loves putting anything and everything into her mouth, holding the TV remote or my phone, snuggling with her blankie and bunny rabbit, and exploring new things. She will make a B-line to the kitchen if she hears you making any type of food and will grab onto my legs and pull herself up and whine until I give her some. She enjoys bath time, pulling herself up on just about everything, dancing with me, having Easton share a toy with her, playing with Daddy, laughing, and rocking in her chair before I lay her down for bed.  Her dislikes include riding in her car seat, being hungry, not getting to taste a bite of what someone else is eating, having her diaper changed, being held down when I’m trying to change her (and she is wanting to take off), and having something taken away from her.
  • By the end of the month, she is learning to:  Amelia is getting better and faster at crawling. She can stand up by herself and stand there for a few seconds before sitting back down. She walks quite fast while using a walker or cruising along the furniture. She has learned how to clap, use a straw, and climb up stairs. I can already tell she will be a strong willed child. When she gets hold of my phone or the TV remote and I take it away, she is not afraid to let me know how she feels about it! If I try to feed her something that she doesn’t like, she will bat my hands away and will sometimes toss her food on the floor. There’s no doubt she’ll have a great sense of humor though, because she loves to laugh and is quite comical already. Her laugh is wonderful to hear and she smiles the biggest smile when you interact with her. I love rocking her before she goes to bed at night. She will lay her head down on my chest with her blankie in her hand and look up at me and smile. The smile usually gets so big that she will laugh and it’s the best ending to my day.
