Décor Diaries: Easton’s Nursery

When we found out we were having a boy, I had no idea how I wanted to decorate the room, only that I didn’t want it to have a theme. I must have seen a million different ideas and pictures in magazines and on Pinterest, but I was having a difficult time making it all work together. I liked too many things! So I just started with the basics and went piece by piece. I already had the crib (is it embarrassing to say that I bought it before we found out I was pregnant?).

Then I saw a wall mural that one of my sister’s friends did in their nursery. I asked her to find out where they had bought the stencil and was shocked to find out that the girl’s husband had done it by hand! Gasp! So it was ‘game on’ for my husband. It took us a whole day, and a lot of frustration, (amazingly though, no arguments!) but we accomplished it! It was definitely a labor of love!

After we finished the wall, I found some adorable bookends from Serena and Lily that helped me give the room more of a direction. We also found the nursery bedding from there as well. (This store can be quite expensive but they occasionally have a sale and the bookends were a baby gift from my Aunt and Uncle.)

And with that, we were off and running! We wanted to make a few things ourselves for the room, and since I couldn’t find a ladder bookshelf that I liked, Logan decided to make one. It turned out beautifully! I don’t think we could have bought anything quite as nice.

I made a bird mobile and a sunburst mirror. I underestimated how long it would take me to make the mobile, but I love how it turned out. I only wish that it would spin on its own. My mom is awesome at crocheting so she made a white blanket to drape over the green glider we bought. We then filled the bookshelf with our favorite books and added a few soft and fluffy things here and there. And voila!

I was so happy with how it turned out! It was just the right mix of boy and sweetness without having a theme. The only bad part was having to leave it behind for our move to California. Oh well, we enjoyed it for 7 months and have great memories in there. I can’t wait to decorate a new room for him in California!
